Sunday afternoons Feb.23 -March 22 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, we’ll use dialogue, readings, videos, writing, and role plays to explore a particularly important part of life where we don’t know what we don’t know.  We’ll unpack whiteness, institutionalized racism, ways to interrupt racism, and opportunities to explore realistic goals.

Choosing to learn and talk about race is a privilege we have as white people.  Studies show that people of color discuss it numerous times a day, whereas we white people can live our entire lives refraining from focusing on the matter for less than an hour all told.  The thought of altering this pattern can feel messy and/or threatening, so we invite you to break through any understandable avoidance and join us as we learn together.

To get a sense of the workshop, we here offer a snapshot through a 2 minute video entitled  “Get Home Safely”    and an article called White Privilege – Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack .

In order to offer this workshop,  co-facilitators Elizabeth Vainer and Sue Herz received permission to use the substance and process established by area grass roots organizations. These two TBS members promise that in the best way, your life will never be the same.

As Jews, we well know the sanctity of learning.  To register and/or ask questions, please contact us or 781-307-6007.
