October 19, 4:30 p.m.
An award-winning documentary exploring the complex relationship between Israelis & Palestinians—and the transformative journey that follows when they are faced with meeting ‘the other’ amidst the difficulty of the conflict & occupation—providing an extraordinary example of what we are all capable of as humans.
About The Other:
Filmed pre and post October 7th from 2017-2024, The Other focuses on Israeli & Palestinian peace-builders, anti-occupation activists, artists, academics, ex-fighters, bereaved parents and many more living the reality on the ground. Whether in non-violent co-resistance, peace-building, or shared community, we witness those who have only known each other through hate, bloodshed, inequality, and war, transcend beyond narratives & belief systems. They teach us that unlearning deep-seated conditioning is possible and that we can liberate ourselves from generational trauma, hatred and fear – no matter how ingrained and legitimate those fears are.
*Post October 7th & during the subsequent war:
The Other revisited subjects from the film to address where they stand now, showcase their progress towards peace, justice, co-resistance, and human rights, as well as unpack the added layer of complexity and trauma in a post October 7th Israel-Palestine. In the face of such atrocities and polarization, The Other showcases another reality, an entire ecosystem of peace builders and activists in Israel-Palestine working together towards a better future.
