This year a group of dedicated Melrosians have taken up the planning for our Melrose Day of Service/ Mitzvah Day in honor of MLK Jr. ![]()
As in years past, the program will begin at 9:30 at the UU church. Eat some breakfast as you see what volunteer and educational opportunities are being offered. From 10-12 everyone will go out to the various sites.![]()

This year TBS has changed our offering just a bit. We will still be collecting donations as usual, but our children's activity has shifted. Each half hour, Rabbi Jessica will sit with students and read children's books, some specifically about civil rights and some written by black authors. We will have time to discuss who Martin Luther King Jr. was, what his message was, and how we can continue his work![]()
today in our lives.

Our liturgy is meaningful and historical, and in a totally different language! What are we saying? Come and learn with Rabbi Jessica what our prayers are actually saying, the history behind them, and how we might understand their words today. We will also learn about the structure of our service and how we often focus on themes more than specific words. For those interested in meditation, we will be creating a space for Jewish meditation later in the year. This course would be a great introduction to that process as well. The Circus is an under the radar clothing event, a sample sale, a warehouse sale, a pop-up store, a guerilla store + an experience in "social shopping" all in one. It’s a platform that connects women designers and craftspeople to women from around the world. The amazing TBS Sisterhood member, Pamela Wise, will be our personal stylist + shopping assistant.![]()

Join Rabbi Jessica for a family friendly MLK shabbat! We will sing together with the choir, read some of MLK's words, and hear from some of our 3-6 grade students about what this day, and the search for equality in our country, means to them.
