Dear Friends,
I am incredibly honored and humbled to be joining the Temple Beth Shalom family! The moment I walked into the synagogue, I knew this was a special place, and one I and my family could find a home within. It is a daunting task to take on the role of Rabbi and Educator, but one I feel uniquely qualified to fulfill.
Pirkei Avot, the ethics of our fathers, states that “one should make for oneself a teacher and acquire a friend”. I know there is an incredible amount of wisdom and skill within this community and I look forward to learning with you, and more importantly, from you.
To be a Rabbi, especially to be considered your Rabbi, requires us to be in relationship. It takes time to build trust, but it also requires a strong beginning. My goal in the next few months is to get together with each family, adults and students, for a meal or coffee and learn about your experiences and hopes for Temple Beth Shalom.
As your spiritual leader, my job is to help make the dreams of the community a reality. I believe that together we will build on the incredible foundation you have already established and create a Jewish center based on deep learning, justice, and soulful prayer so that Temple Beth Shalom can reach its full potential.
