Yizkor, in Hebrew, means “remember” and each year at the Yizkor  Service on Yom Kippur we publicly remember our departed family and friends by reading their names before the congregation and reciting prayers in their memory. The traditional Yizkor prayer includes a pledge to make a charitable donation (tzedakah) in memory of the deceased.  Information on how to participate is below.

Your donation to TBS fulfills the Yizkor  pledge in two ways:

  • You are partaking in the mitzvah  of tzedakah  for the deceased since they cannot;
  • You are performing your own mitzvah by donating with loving remembrance for those whose names will be read.
