Newly translated writings, rarely seen art, and vintage and new music tracks—from Mark's new book, Our Will to Live (www.our-will-to-live.org/) —amplify voices silenced in the Holocaust and bring the fullest picture yet of this unique time in Jewish history. Books will be available for purchase.This multi-media event will feature a selection of readings from Ullmann’s critiques accompanied by vintage and modern recordings performed by Terezín survivors and contemporary masters, including Yo-Yo Ma and members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Paired with Ullmann’s critiques are more than 250 rarely seen concert posters, programs, portraits and scenes rendered by imprisoned artists; these are from a trove of hidden artworks recovered after liberation. TBS Sisterhood Book GroupThursday, May 16, 7:30p The TBS Sisterhood book group meets from 7:30 - 9 PM on the 3rd Thursday of the month. From October 19 through June 20, 2024, we're meeting in person at TBS. If there are concerns about an uptick in Covid, we’ll meet on Zoom. Each month a different book group member provides 2- 3 book recommendations and the group votes on one. On Thursday, May 16th, we’ll discuss Susi Ecker’s recommended book, The Soloist: A Lost Dream, an Unlikely Friendship, and the Redemptive Power of Music By Steve Lopez. The true story of Nathaniel Ayers, a musician who becomes schizophrenic and homeless, and his friendship with Steve Lopez, the Los Angeles columnist who discovers and writes about him in the newspaper. The book is also a 2009 drama film, The Soloist.
